today, i’d like to reintroduce the fashion month mixtape, a biannual series that captures my thoughts and admirations from the most recent fashion collections. from Copenhagen to Milan, one recurring theme i couldn’t help noticing amongst the designs for Fall 2022 is the inevitable and ongoing revival of Aughties aesthetics.
details of this era were executed in a few different ways this season: among them are the McBling but make it eco-conscious vibe at Collina Strada (which was presented as a 2000s era parody of reality shows such as The Hills, Laguna Beach, and Real Housewives), the edgy, cyberpunk sensibility of Khaite, the tailored double denim ensembles at No Sesso, and the flirty resurgence of dresses over jeans at TIBI. whimsical cutouts, rave-ready accessories, mixed textures, and structured romantic looks also made quite the impact on me.
below, i’ve selected looks from Fall ‘22 that i really enjoyed — from 23 designers total, in no particular order. hope you enjoy <3
