for years, Instagram has been the main site i’ve used for social networking and visual inspiration — my Tumblr and Pinterest have almost gone dormant waiting for me to return to them with the same vigor. but as of late, using that app just doesn’t feel the same anymore — being online hardly feels the same anymore. i wonder how my personal activity on IG will shift as it prioritizes video content more and more. at this point, i still find things to muse upon across the platform (hence the saved folder), just not as frequently as before. perhaps there’s just way more inspiration waiting to be found offline or at least outside that app?
i’m currently in the process of packing to move and once i’m settled, i’m excited to revisit my books and magazines for inspo. one thing i can say is writing about fashion provides motivation to continually seek out new things. i recently wrote up a feature on knitwear over on NBGA that spotlights designers on the rise. check it out <3
on another note, i just think viewing summer fashion can easily become monotonous, considering the repetition of certain silhouettes — fall weather typically provides the best possibilities for layering textures IMO. i love summer, but naturally i think about getting dressed less. i recently saw a viral tweet that said “y’all rush fall just so y’all can dress like Moesha” and my literal response was “and what about it??”
last year, i wrote about the style of Moesha upon the show’s Netflix debut and though i have no shame in wanting to layer up like Mo, we all know the real style star was Kim.
