Black fashion history month
wake up, wake up, wake up it’s the 1st of the month
february’s here, so it’s a prime time to look at the intersections of both fashion and Black history. over the course of this journey together, i will continually unpack my thoughts on style and fashion by distinctly juxtaposing the two concepts.
i am a huge advocate of personal style and look at fashion from a largely conceptual standpoint. i believe that fashion is the theory and style is the practical application.
for the sake of fashion month, i’ll be looking at the careers of Black fashion and style icons (models, designers, stylists and other unsung heroes) over the course of the month. i’ll also be highlighting moments of FW21 that stand out to me, like my favorite thing i saw this past week: Area’s premier couture show featuring Precious Lee😍
lastly, i love alliteration so i’m currently building the “february faves” playlist…i imagine the recent Arlo Parks album is bound to be on repeat for the foreseeable future. i’ll catch you all friday!
