happy aries season! i’m currently reveling in the beginning of spring and the beautiful warm weather we’ve been getting in the South.
sunbathing has become an almost daily activity and i’m grateful for it. seasonal affective disorder is very real, but shoutout to my HappyLight for getting me through winter.
in volume 1 of this series, i didn’t really establish some of the definitive aries traits for this audience — let’s do so now. i gathered a bit of this knowledge from The Astrology Journal by Mecca Woods, coupled with my own understanding and experience with the sign. i follow quite a few professional astrologers on social media for perspective, but it’s rare that i start my weekday routines without reading Woods’ daily forecast on Bustle (i check my sun, moon, and rising).
aries is a cardinal fire sign and the start of the zodiac. ruled by mars, they tend to be pretty steadfast in their convictions. being first out of the 12 signs also lends to a sort of impulsivity, but this can work in their favor when they operate more from an innovative spirit and less from fear. according to Woods, self-awareness is key in this regard.
here are some notable aries women; the fabulous, trendsetting HBIC energy speaks for itself.
in related news, apple music was definitely out of order today just as i was reviewing the aries, vol. 2 playlist (it’s giving cyberattack, but that’s a conversation for another day). still, we move with grace in the face of minor inconveniences. i took it as a sign that the playlist was already sufficient — i mean, it is 28 songs long.
with vol. 2, i’ve got some tracks from Oshun, Bbymutha, Hope Tala, and more. i’ve also been pretty obsessed with Omar Apollo’s recent single feat. Daniel Caesar — reminder that we technically didn’t cancel the latter, he kinda did it to himself by asking us to as he defended a culture vulture. but it’s likely a lot of us didn’t stop listening to Freudian completely; it just probably fell out of heavy rotation with a serious side-eye extended towards Caesar.
anyway, “Invincible” is such a pleasure to sing and i’ve found myself playing it on repeat every time i encounter it. i elaborated a little more about my love for it in the following tweet.

yet i digress! here’s that playlist for your enjoyment. when i was finally able to listen to it in sequential order, i realized that it’s got a consistent mood and narrative. but feel free to play it on shuffle if that strikes your fancy.
